Jeffrey Thorp
Managing Principal
Jeff Thorp has served as Managing Principal of Sonoma Capital Management since its inception in 2006.
From 2000–2006 Jeff managed two family partnerships with investment strategies more oriented towards relative value and short selling. From 1996–2000, Mr. Thorp was a Senior Vice President in Institutional Sales with Amroc Investments, LLC and Amroc Securities, LLC, a New York based brokerage firm specializing in trading the public and private securities and claims of foreign and domestic issuers. From 1994–1996, Jeff was Senior Managing Director of Institutional Sales at M.J. Whitman, Inc., a New York based broker-dealer specializing in trading the equity and debt securities of troubled issuers, where he co-managed the Los Angeles office.
Prior to Amroc Securities and M.J. Whitman, Jeff worked at Strome Susskind Investment Management, L.P., where he was a trader specializing in value oriented and distressed securities, and in the analysis of these securities as well as event driven situations.
Jeff received a B.A. in Economics from the University of California at Irvine in 1985, and a Masters in Business Administration and Masters in Business Taxation from the University of Southern California in 1988 and 1991. At the University of Southern California, Jeff’s coursework included extensive economics, accounting, and tax courses, and he was selected to Beta Gamma Sigma, the school’s highest distinction for academic excellence.
